Our family has always loved to participate in the free summer reading programs in our area. Many of these programs will rewards your kids for keeping track of either the number of books read, or the amount of time read. Rewards can range from a FREE book, FREE food, discounts at certain entertainment venues, and more.

Public Libraries - Check your local library for free kids' summer reading programs with activities and incentives for all ages. Most libraries also have story times and other reading-themed activities. Incentives can include a free book; discount offers to local businesses and restaurants.
Scholastic - Participation Dates: May 4 - September 7, 2023 The Scholastic Summer Reading program on Home Base offers kids an exciting, free, and safe summer reading experience, while helping to provide books to kids with limited or no access over the summer, keeping every child reading.
Barnes & Noble - Kids can earn a FREE book after they read 8 books and log them on the downloadable reading journal. The Barnes and Noble kids’ summer reading program is only available to students in grades 1–6. Only one book is available for each child who completes a reading journal, and the choice must be made from the selected books available at the store. Half Price Books - HPB Summer Reading Camp, where online campers, and their trusty guardians, can get their fill of fun reads and activities to keep busy during lazy days of summer! Summer Reading Camp returns Thursday, June 1, and runs through Monday, July 31. Register now to receive reminders about the camp, and to receive reading lists and fun activities to keep your kiddos busy all summer long!
Chuck E. Cheese - With the Chuck E. Cheese kids’ summer reading program, kids earn 10 FREE points each time they read for two weeks in a row. Complete the form to claim the free tokens. A food purchase is required.

H‑E‑Buddy Summer Reading Club - H‑E‑Buddy is ready for summer fun and summer jamming, so it's time to kick off our H‑E‑Buddy Summer Reading Club. All you have to do is read ten books and record them on your reading log. And remember, one of the books must be a Read 3 Book (see choices below). Each time you log a book, have an adult initial by the title so you get credit for reading. Once the log is complete, mail the form to the address below, and you'll be rewarded with a special prize. You have until October 1 to get in ten good reads. Texas summers are made for adventures, and some of the best adventures you find are in books, so find a stack of books and start exploring. *Must be postmarked by October 1st, 2022.
The H‑E‑Buddy Summer Reading Club is intended solely for children who are residents of Texas and between the ages of 3‑12.

AudiobookSYNC - is a summer program of FREE audiobook for teens 13+. Two audiobooks are available each week through the Sora reading app. April 27 - August 2, 2023. Perfect for both on-the-go and on the couch reading. Each week they offer a current YA book as well as a classic title that teens will be able to download for free through the SORA /OverDrive app.
Pizza Hut BOOK IT - Join BOOK IT summer camp to encourage reading all summer long. Track kids’ reading for the summer months in their digital dashboard. If they meet their monthly reading goal, kids then receive a free Personal Pan Pizza from Pizza Hut!
Showcase Cinemas - Read a book and earn a ticket for a free summer flick! Kids can earn free admission to a select children’s film when they present a book report at a participating Showcase Cinemas box office. Bookworm Wednesdays - bring in your form during the weeks of July 6 - July 27 at 10 A.M. to get FREE admission.
